Reason No. 3: Toronto’s stars and youngsters will develop

Coming into the season, Siakam, Anunoby, and VanVleet looked like players the Raptors could build their future around. But things change quickly. This season has been a disappointment so far for all three. They have 29 games to start building a foundation for the future.

Will Siakam return to the all-star level play we saw from him in the two previous years? Can VanVleet be an efficient point guard on offense? Can Anunoby get his scoring to around 20 points per game?

The Raptors could lay the foundation for 2021

These are all questions that might be answered during the next couple of months. It’s crucial that the younger players figure out how to win consistently, now. The Raptors don’t have many accomplished veterans left on the team; Kawhi Leonard, Serge Ibaka, Danny Green, and Marc Gasol are all gone.

The young players’ development is crucial because the franchise doesn’t want to create a losing culture. The rest of the season should give us a huge indication of what direction the franchise is going in.
