Baylor: SG Davion Mitchell

Mitchell and Jared Butler have been the dynamic backcourt that has led the Bears to their first Final Four berth in years. While Butler will undoubtedly also be picked higher in the draft, perhaps even higher than Mitchell, the former Auburn star might be a better fit for the Raptors.

Mitchell is a tremendous 3-point shooter and creator of turnovers, making the 6-2 guard an ideal candidate to earn minutes with the second unit right away. A lean athlete with speed, Mitchell has made strides in handling the ball and attacking the basket, which he has done to great effect this season.

Raptors draft: How will Davion Mitchell help?

Mitchell’s versatility is a bit limited, as he doesn’t have the passing instincts to be a true point guard, which is helping Butler overtake him on some draft boards. For a Raptors team that has that issue solved thanks to VanVleet, however, Mitchell, averaging 14.1 points per game, could slide right into their rotation due to his defense.

Put the Malachi Flynn comparisons out of your mind. Mitchell is a much better offensive player, and he was able to show off his offense in a tougher conference. Mitchell passed his tests with flying colors, making him a prime candidate to put on a Raptors jersey next season.
