Toronto Raptors draft target: Quincy Guerrier, SF, Syracuse

While the Canadian to watch is certainly Mathurin, not too far behind is a player who was also born in Montreal in Guerrier.  Guerrier has not yet declared for the draft. Instead, he’s dipping his toe into professional waters by attending the NBA combine and seeing what feedback he receives. Guerrier has said that he won’t hire an agent, allowing him to return to Syracuse.

Once again, the Raptors may consider using a second-round pick on the Canadian. Guerrier impressed this season, averaging 13.7 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game. It was good enough for the big man to earn third-team All-ACC honors.

Toronto Raptors draft: Quincy Guerrier is a raw player.

Guerrier has the potential to be an NBA starter thanks to his combination of size and the agility of a smaller player. He has proven that he can rack up both points and rebounds in any given contest.

What many may not know about Guerrier is that he’s also a leader at Syracuse.

Guerrier sits on his university’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SSAC) along with his teammate Marek Dolezaj, to represent men’s basketball. To earn his role on the committee, Guerrier needed to be nominated.

It’s always a plus to add another leader to any club, whether it’s the NCAA or the NBA. It’s just another reason that Guerrier brings value to his team. He might be a tough projection to the pros, but there is a ton to like about him.
