2. His performance in the postseason

Before Lowry came along, the Raptors had won just one playoff series in nearly two decades of basketball. Part of the reason this franchise has been able to turn things around is the fact that Lowry was such s reliable rock of production when the chips were down.

Across 84 Raptors playoff games, Lowry averaged 17.1 points and 6.5 assists per game. Between amassing four separate series in which he averaged at least 20 points per game and five consecutive double-digit scoring nights against the mighty Warriors in the postseason, Lowry’s clutch gene can’t be questioned.

Kyle Lowry always came through for the Toronto Raptors.

Calling the Kawhi Leonard-led Raptors an underdog is doing them a disservice, but they did face some long odds when they realized they had to topple Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and the mighty Warriors dynasty to do so.

Without Lowry averaging 16/5/6 on 44/37/83 shooting percentages in those series, the upsets aren’t happening.

Lowry never was the gaudiest scorer that would rattle off 40-point games every night, However, if the Raptors needed a big stop or a big shot, you knew who was going to come through. Carter, Bosh, and DeRozan all had their moments, but Lowry’s list of playoff success dwarfs them all.
