2. Sign Jeff Dowtin to a two-way contract

Dowtin has a legitimate case for the Raptors’ hypothetical Summer League MVP after just three games. A lightning-quick finisher at the rim who impressed Toronto with his ability to command the Summer League offense, Dowtin has proven he is worthy of an NBA contract in some capacity.

Dowtin, who received a few cups of coffee with the Warriors and Magic last year, has amassed 48 points and 12 assists in three Summer League games. With one two-way spot open after signing Ron Harper Jr. following the draft, Dowtin could be a solid role player.

Jeff Dowtin has impressed the Toronto Raptors.

If David Johnson is going to be his main competition for a roster spot, Dowtin should be well aware of the fact that he outclassed him in Las Vegas. The Raptors appear to be fairly close to just eating what’s left of Johnson’s deal and rolling with a player like Dowtin as a backup.

Considering how Champagnie went from a two-way player to someone who could end up playing a somewhat impactful role, Dowtin may end up relieving Banton or Malachi Flynn if the situation calls for it. The Rhode Island alum could maximize his potential as a backup with Toronto.
