2. Who will start at center?
After all the consternation over who the backup point guard will be in the offseason, the center spot has been an equally precarious spot this season. The Raptors have been mixing and matching options in the frontcourt all season long, with only measured success.
The Raptors have been using Christian Koloko as the starting center in an attempt to get some added height and rim protection. While this decision has worked from time to time, his recent struggles show that he needs to take a moment on the bench to catch his breath.
The Toronto Raptors must make a change at center.
The Raptors aren’t totally bereft of center options not named Koloko. Thad Young had some success, even if he isn’t an ideal matchup for the Joel Embiid-level players of the world. Maybe throwing Pascal Siakam back at the center spot like they did last year would make sense. What about trying Chris Boucher in the starting lineup?
While Precious Achiuwa would be the obvious answer for the team’s new center, it’ll be quite a while before they get him back at 100% health. In the interim, Toronto needs to come up with some sort of solution that can help them limit some of the East’s best big men.
