Pascal Siakam and the Toronto Raptors had a taller task than usual on their hands against the Orlando Magic. Not only was the dynamic duo of Gary Trent Jr. and OG Anunoby both sidelined due to injuries, but the Magic were coming into this game on a hot streak.

Fresh off being named an All-Star for the second time in his career as a Kevin Durant replacement, Siakam would need to step up and make sure that a young bunch starting to find their stride in central Florida was not going to waltz right into Canada and take home a win.

Siakam took on Moritz Wagner, and he came out on top as the clear winner. Siakam put the German forward on the wrong end of one of the smoothest highlights he has amassed all season long.

Siakam sent Wagner tumbling to the floor on a sick crossover that was punctuated by the Cameroonian star nailing yet another silky smooth jumper. Siakam is still his deadly offensive self despite the fact that the team is wildly inconsistent as a whole.

Toronto Raptors: Pascal Siakam broke Moritz Wagner’s ankles.

While Orlando’s length could be problematic (in theory) for Toronto, the trade of Mo Bamba means that Wagner will earn more minutes in the short term. This is, naturally, something that Siakam has to be thrilled with, given how he took him on here. Both he and Jakob Poeltl played well in the first half.

Siakam made his first five shots from the field despite playing in a somewhat unfamiliar offensive alignment with Trent and Anunoby out of the game. Siakam has averaged 27.2 points per game in February.

With the trade deadline in the past, Toronto is going to need Siakam to be at his absolute best in order to carry a depleted roster to the promised land. If Wagner’s defense, or lack of same, is anything to go off, Siakam is in the zone right now.
