The contract: four years, $24 million (2007)

After somewhat of a breakout season with the Miami Heat during the 2006-07 season, which included averaging 11 points on an absurd 51 percent shooting from 3-point range, Kapono carried that into a big payday with the Raptors. Toronto signed Kapono away from the Heat to a four-year, $24 million deal. However, Kapono would never play up to the standards of his contract.

Kapono performed well in spurts and still was outstanding from 3-point range, but he never took the step forward after his breakout season in Miami that Toronto believed he had the ability to make. Kapono would go on to win the 3-point contest in 2008, but that was his biggest achievement during his time in Toronto.

Jason Kapono never evolved for the Toronto Raptors.

The Raptors would go on to trade Kapono to the Philadelphia 76ers after just two seasons of the four-year deal. When it was all said and done, Kapono ended up being more of a mistake than a success for the Raptors.

Kapono would be remembered as one of the better 3-point shooters in team history but also a player that never took a step forward after signing a big deal with the franchise.
