The Toronto Raptors will head into the 2022 offseason with plans to finally shake up their roster. Despite leading the league in steals per game, the latest batch of NBA rumors have cooked up quite a few fascinating threads surrounding star forward OG Anunoby.

Anunoby, who was shopped around quite frequently at the trade deadline before Masai Ujiri ultimately slammed the door shut on such proposals, is a unique player that contenders will trip over themselves to acquire. His blend of shooting and masterful defense is very hard to come by.

While Anunoby has publically said all the right things about playing in Toronto, rumors that he could leave in favor of greener pastures elsewhere have not abated due to his alleged desire for an enhanced offensive role. A quartet of playoff teams and one rebuilding squad are likely going to pursue him.

According to Heavy.com’s Sean Deveney, the Knicks, Warriors, Nets, Pelicans, and Pistons will all express some degree of interest in trading for Anunoby in the offseason. If Ujiri’s steep valuation can be met, the Raptors could shake up their current roster in a significant fashion.

NBA rumors: 5 teams interested in Toronto Raptors star OG Anunoby.

The Warriors were interested in Anunoby right up until the deadline, but refusing to part with a player like Jonathan Kuminga to acquire him helped those talks fall apart. The Pelicans have an arsenal of bench players and first-round picks to trade as they look to retool their roster.

Both New York teams in the Knicks and Nets make sense as Anunoby landing spots, with the former in need of another shooter and versatile defensive chess piece and the latter looking for more support around Mikal Bridges. Both have extra first-round picks to trade to Toronto.

Detroit appears to be tired of trying to tank for draft picks and are instead trying to give Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey a winning team before their rookie deals are up. Perhaps sensing an air of desperation around the Pistons, the Raptors might be able to milk some very desirable assets out of Troy Weaver.

Anunoby may be traded this offseason, but he is certainly not going to go for cheap. The Raptors will likely shop him around the league in an attempt to get assets that can be used to revamp the current squad, and they will not exactly have to go far to find teams interested in him.
