Jonathan Kuminga

Why would the Warriors ever get rid of a player like Kuminga? The new CBA rules will hit teams like Golden State, who are still in win-now mode. With James Wiseman already dealt away to the Pistons, both Kuminga and Moses Moddy face longer odds of being retained.

Kuminga, who was at the center of OG Anunoby trade talks, would be in rarified territory when it comes to tradeable assets. His 9.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game don’t tell the entire story, as he remains one of the best young athletes in the game and a lethal rim-runner.

Will the Toronto Raptors trade Thad Young for TJ McConnell?

Kuminga still doesn’t have a jump shot, but the Raptors’ history of hiring coaches with a background in the G League and player development. This team will be willing to be as patient as possible with him if it means they can grab a potential long-term contributing piece.

In his first hypothetical season with the Raptors, Kuminga would be the first player off the bench and someone that could potentially slide into the starting lineup if someone was hurt. That’s not bad for a Young return.
