No. 4: Kelly Olynyk

Another player acquired at the 2023 trade deadline, Kelly Olynyk doesn't look to be on the way out in quite the same way as Ochai Agbaji. The veteran stretch big was acquired alongside Agbaji from the Utah Jazz to fill a specific role, providing a spacing element to the frontcourt to open up the court for Scottie Barnes.

The Canada native is also 33 years old and of more value to more win-now teams than to the retooling Raptors. His shooting is important and is why the team targeted him, but if another team values him highly, it's not unreasonable to see him traded this season.

No. 3: Davion Mitchell

The Toronto Raptors pulled off a coup of a trade with the Sacramento Kings, getting two draft picks and Davion Mitchell just to take on the salary of forward Sasha Vezenkov, who promptly gave back his entire contract to go play in Europe. It was essentially free money.

Mitchell fills an obvious role on the Raptors as the backup point guard, giving the second unit elite point-of-attack defense and steady ball-handling. His shot runs cold-or-colder and he isn't dynamic enough with the ball to drive the offense, but he fills a role.

The Raptors just drafted another player who fills that role, however, adding Houston's Jamal Shead in the second round of the draft. If Shead looks good in training camp and plays well in preseason it would not be terribly surprising for him to claim the backup spot, making Mitchell expendable and available on the trade market to a team that needs a defensive stopper in their backcourt.
