C.J. Miles

I didn’t want it to come to this, the lone smudge on a perfect season so far has been the play of C.J. Miles.

Let’s not dwell too much on this as there are a lot of positive notes to keep us on track.

C.J. Miles’ reputation in the NBA is that of a pure shooter. His primary function in the rotation is to come off the bench and make shots, it’s not a complex assignment by any means, but it’s a lot more complex than I’m making it out to be.

With that being said, it’s not working so far. Miles is shooting an effective field-goal percentage of 33-percent. Sheesh. In fairness, that percentage is brought down purely because of his lack of accuracy from three.

2-14 from three this season. That’s not healthy.

C.J. Miles is a shooter by trade and shooters tend to go through slumps, and this has the makings of being just that. Miles is still getting shots up in limited minutes, but the fact of the matter is they just aren’t falling right now. Most of the makes are coming within 5 feet of the rim, which is fine, but we know where the real damage can be done.

Before the season started, Miles was considered to be a possible casualty from the Raptors rotations. The Raptors have an excess of wing talent heading into the season, and consistent performances will be rewarded, much like Norman Powell who has had a mini-resurgence.

It’ll click for C.J.; it’s just a matter of when. Or maybe the GoDaddy curse strikes again.
