Lorenzo Brown – A two-way contract

This is technically a downgrade, and truthfully I want Lorenzo Brown to still earn his NBA paycheck. But can’t we agree to let Brown earn big-time bucks and still spend a majority of his time with the Raptors 905?

Lorenzo Brown won the G-League MVP last season, he was the 905’s offense and by all accounts too good for the NBA’s developmental league. But unfortunately, he’s not quite good enough to be an NBA player. To borrow a baseball term, Brown is what’s known as a quadruple-A player. Too good for the minors, not good enough for the majors.

I want Brown to be good. I really do. However, at 28 years old, it’s more likely than not it will never fully click for Brown as a player. His great effort and personality on the bench may allow him to hold on to a final roster spot for a season or two, but that’s probably it.

Greg Monroe – A pair of basketball shoes

Kawhi has signed with New Balance, and Greg Monroe has apparently been endorsed by Oldcastle Concrete. At least that’s what I think everytime I watch Greg Monroe play defense.

He’s incredibly skilled, a great passer, and is one of the most intelligent players on the team. But man does it look like his shoes have concrete soles. Monroe’s heavy feet make Jonas Valanciunas look like a ballerina. With the gift of real basketball shoes and new quicker feet, Greg Monroe actually can become a high minutes option once again.
