OG Anunoby

Quietly going about his business on defense, OG Anunoby has definitely impressed in his third season in the NBA, but while his offense has slightly improved, it still requires the consistency that comes packaged with making a leap.

Though, every now and again, Anunoby comes up with a game that makes you sit up and take notice. This week, that game came against the Oklahoma City Thunder. With 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting, adding five rebounds, five assists, and three steals, Anunoby showed every bit of offensive potential he has in his arsenal as the Raptors were able to stave off a late comeback from the Thunder.

Anunoby has comfortably been shooting the three-ball at a decent clip this season, knocking down 38-percent of his threes on 3.8 attempts per game. Over the last seven games, Anunoby has taken his efficiency to another level. He’s shooting 54-percent from the field and 56-percent from three.

He deserves credit for that, and it shows there’s definitely an end product on the horizon. This past week felt like the biggest sign of improvement yet. He’s able to turn his great defensive pressure into transition looks and ranks in the 73rd percentile for all players on the fastbreak this season, third-best on the Raptors.

Defensively, Anunoby remains a stalwart. Had he defended DeMar DeRozan down the stretch against the Spurs, we might be looking at a different result. He’s done enough to get a mention this week.

VERDICT: STOCK UP
