Pascal Siakam

As raw numbers go, Pascal Siakam had a pretty awesome week. He averaged 27.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game over his last three, shooting 50-percent from the field and 37-percent from three.

The first-time All-Star starter is beginning to find his groove after returning from injury. It’s been a little slow and laboured at times, and he’s often looked uncomfortable – and probably not fully healthy.

Heading into Sunday night, Pascal Siakam was voted as the Eastern Conference’s Player of the Week. In all honesty, it came as a bit of a surprise, but maybe the voters are taking winning into account more often now. Since Siakam has returned, the Raptors are riding an eight-game winning streak.

While he hasn’t been at his best throughout it all, the past week has been far more representative of the Siakam we saw early this season. Against the Spurs, Siakam knocked down 30 points in just the first half but finished the game with “just” 35 points, shooting 11-of-23 from the field and knocking down five threes.

It’s hard to gain full context from that game, considering it should never have been played, but it was still nice to see Siakam get into a shooting rhythm. Let’s hope for more of the same soon.
