Are the Toronto Raptors buyers or sellers?

Sometimes, the toughest task can just be figuring out who you are. Teams can tend to overvalue themselves and, with that, how close they are to contending or even just making a run of sorts in the playoffs. One could argue that this is how the Detroit Pistons ended up with Blake Griffin.

Towing that line is a difficult process because teams shouldn’t be chastised for taking a gamble and going for gold. Alternatively, mortgaging your future isn’t easily done either. Knowing when to hold them and when to fold them is what makes general managers great.

Luckily, the Toronto Raptors shouldn’t have any sort of identity crisis this season. They should know exactly who they are: contenders.

Despite the ruckus heading into the season, with Kawhi Leonard departing and an air of uncertainty surrounding the team, they’ve responded like champions who are willing to defend their throne in every single way possible.

Now, they have the chance to upgrade their roster heading towards the deadline. They might just end up doing so. There’s a case to be made for the Raptors enduring a quiet deadline, but it wouldn’t come as a shock if they made another blockbuster move, or even just to add some depth to a talented roster.

It depends on what they need.
