2. 2014-15 Golden State Warriors

If you want to talk about the 2019 Raptors getting lucky with an opposing team’s injuries, then it’s unfair to not put the 2015 Warriors in the same breath.

This was a year before they exploded for 73 wins the following season, and there seems to be a misconception that the 2015 title team was just as dominant. That actually wasn’t the case at all.

For starters, the Cleveland team they beat in the finals was without Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love for the entire series, leaving LeBron to be flanked by the likes of Matthew Delavadova and the iconic Timofey Mozgov for major minutes. Golden State struggled mightily to get by Memphis in six games in the second round as well that year, ironically a team anchored by Marc Gasol.

The Toronto Raptors, when healthy, were better than that Golden State team.

They also got a cupcake matchup playing Houston in the Western Conference Finals, after the consensus “best team in the league”, the Los Angeles Clippers, failed to qualify.

If Fred VanVleet could play this kind of defense on 2019 Steph, logic dictates that 2015 Steph might’ve had similar issues.

Toronto was bigger, better defensively, and simply more talented than anyone Golden State played during that run by far. Not to mention Leonard would have been the best player in the series.

I’ll go 4-2 Raps.
