2. Dallas Mavericks

Assets: Dwight Powell, Moses Brown, Trey Burke, first-round picks in 2025, 2026

The Dallas links just won’t go away, as the idea of pairing with Slovenian counterpart Luka Doncic on a Mavericks team that needs some backcourt depth makes a ton of sense. Mark Cuban is always willing to get aggressive to win games, and he might be tempted to flip Toronto multiple assets in exchange for Dragic.

Powell will almost assuredly come to Toronto, as the Canadian native is both a quality center and someone on an eight-figure contract helpful for matching salaries. 7-2 Moses Brown and Trey Burke could be thrown in to sweeten the deal, and Toronto could get a pick in the future due to Dallas’ willingness to trade them.

Will the Mavericks finally acquire Raptors guard Goran Dragic?

While the Kristaps Porzingis trade has Dallas locked in Stepien Rule hell for the foreseeable future, this team is desperate to build around Doncic. If it means that they would have to do something as drastic as giving away yet another pick, Dallas will likely oblige.

Dragic can still get a bucket at this level, and he could be the perfect wily veteran to help a somewhat young playoff team remain stable in the postseason. While Brown, Powell, and Burke likely won’t evolve into game-changers, they wouldn’t be the worst additions in a Dragic return.
