2. Gradey Dick, SF, Kansas

Occam’s Razor helps make this pick. The Raptors need shooting, and Dick’s feathery 3-point shot will translate to the professional game instantly. Dick is a deficient defender that might get pushed around early, but that offensive potential is real and spectacular. He will be picked fairly high.

Dick averaged 14.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game last season, and his 3-point percentage was well over 40% on the entire season. For a good chunk of the season, Dick was flirting with a 3-point percentage that was very close to 50% for the entire campaign.

The Toronto Raptors need a guard like Gradey Dick.

While Dick is not the most creative scorer when the ball is in his hands, he has proven to be effective enough as a generator to get by in the NBA. Even if he doesn’t take a big step in the right direction there and remains a catch-and-shoot guy, the Raptors could use someone like him.

Dick is likely going to start his career as a role player before eventually accepting a bigger responsibility as he works out some of the rough edges in his game. While he has some big mountains to climb, Toronto has enough developmental juice left in the tank to work with him.
