PG Fred VanVleet

The fans may not be all-in on VanVleet, but Masai Ujiri likely will be. Given what he means to the team in the locker room and the type of player that he can be at his peak, VanVleet might be viewed as damn near irreplaceable by this front office as he hits free agency.

While the Raptors could consider using their first draft pick on a point guard, the odds of that player becoming a VanVleet-level starter (or even an approximation) are tilted against them. With a generally weak free agent class around VanVleet, the odds of a 1 to 1 replacement coming to town are very small.

Will the Toronto Raptors keep Fred VanVleet?

While there is a path to retaining all three of these players, the more likely scenario involves Toronto keeping two of them seems more realistic. If Trent is resigned and the Raptors are priced out of a VanVleet return, look for the Orlando Magic to make a play for him.

With the Magic having been linked to him in the past, a need for a veteran point guard very obvious in Orlando, and their cap space, VanVleet could take the lack of state tax, great weather, and a unique new role.
