Dream Tier: Jordi Fernandez

While Monty Williams would have been the best target, the fact he took that gargantuan deal with the Pistons has officially taken him out of the running for this job. The best candidates are starting to separate, and Fernandez is looking like the absolute cream of the crop.

After spending last season as an assistant on the high-flying Sacramento Kings and his past stint on the international scene with the Nigerian national team, Fernandez brings the offensive aptitude and national team experience (although much less of it, granted) of Scariolo while bringing in his own unique flavor.

Will Jordi Fernandez come to the Toronto Raptors?

A former G League head coach, just like Nick Nurse, Fernandez checks the player development box. Toronto has two very talented, mobile big men in Pascal Siakam and Scottie Barnes. Some of Fernandez’s best work includes helping Domantas Sabonis and Nikola Jokic improve.

Much like Adelman, Fernandez seems like someone that is eventually going to land a premium job after years as an assistant. The Raptors need someone that brings his combination of positive traits to the table. What is the hold-up now that Williams is gone?
