Fred VanVleet – 79 Overall

Maybe it’s high from the NBA Finals but, Fred VanVleet deserves some more love than a 79 overall. Come on, he got a Finals MVP vote.

That’s kind of a joke, but VanVleet really should be higher. At least bump him up to an 80 out of respect. If Dwight Howard is an 80, VanVleet should be too.

Notable Attributes

Three-Point – 82

VanVleet’s inside game offensively is below-average, however, his three-point rating makes up for that. Don’t expect to hit shots from way outside, but he’s steady from the corner and has a good catch and shoot. For some reason, guys like Taurean Prince, Patrick Beverley and Tony Snell are rated better from three. None of those guys are as good as VanVleet in real life.

Perimeter Defence – 83

This rating is accurate, but he plays like a better defender than the rating suggests. His high lateral movement rating makes him perfect to stay in front of guys. He’s not great at stealing the ball, but he forces pickups. The perfect thing about having guys like VanVleet and Lowry is that your team can always have a solid perimeter defender on the court.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson – 75 Overall

Success when playing with Rondae Hollis-Jefferson in 2K comes from his athleticism. He has the potential to be one of those guys that you always play really well with, even if he’s not great in terms of overall rating.

Notable Attributes

Driving Dunk – 89 & Standing Dunk – 80

His dunk ratings caught me off guard at first glance. Eighty-nine for driving dunks feels really high, but it makes Hollis-Jefferson fun to play with. If you go up for a dunk with him, chances are he’ll be able to finish it.

Speed – 86

His driving dunk combined with speed makes him a force when driving to the hoop. Getting him out in transition will be a sure-fire way to highlights.

Driving Layup – 55

His layup rating being this low is annoying to play with. Especially when you look at how you want to play with him. You can’t always make him dunk, so when the game decides for him to lay it up instead your chances of scoring decrease.

I guess you take the good with the bad on this one.
