The Toronto Raptors have a star player in Pascal Siakam that has grown as a player in the last two season as well has emerged himself into an NBA all-star.

The Toronto Raptors have an amazing team, but they also have an amazing player in Pascal Siakam.

Pascal Siakam had an emotional journey to the NBA but now has proven his worth and proven he belongs in the big leagues.

Question is, could Pascal Siakam potentially win an MVP award in the future or no?

Pascal Siakam Stats

Like I was saying Pascal Siakam has emerged himself into an NBA star in the last couple of years. After having an emotional journey to the NBA, to being a bench player in his first two seasons he has now reached a new level in his last two seasons with the Toronto Raptors.

2019-20 stats – 53 GP – 23.6 PPG – 7.5 RPG – 3.6 APG – .459 FG% – .359 3P% – .800 FT%

Career stats – 269 GP – 12.7 PPG – 5.6 RPG – 2.3 APG – .504 FG% – .333 3P% – .766 FT%

Pascal Siakam broke through last year during the 2018-19 season averaging career highs in points, rebounds, assists, and steals and that ultimately saw him win the NBA’s MIP award (Most Improved Player)

Fast forward to this season he left off from where he finished last season but added more, and he is averaging seven more PPG, .almost one more RPG, and almost one more APG as well. (Stats from NBA.com)

MIP to MVP?

As we all know already and like I said, Siakam won the NBA’s MIP award last season after improving his 2018-19 season by a lot compared to his 2017-18 season. Now during this 2019-20 season, he has improved his PPG by a lot as well, and the question is, MIP to MVP eventually?

I truly think Pascal Siakam could win an MVP award in the future for multiple reasons. For starters, he’s in his fourth year in the league and already averaging 24 PPG after coming off a season prior averaging 16 PPG. With a little more time he could maybe start averaging closer to 27 PPG in my opinion.

The downside to this though is he is already 26 years old and only played four years in the league, so he should be entering his prime within the next two years or so. The difference between Siakam’s 2018-19 season with the Toronto Raptors and this season with the Toronto Raptors is that he wasn’t the primary scorer on last years team because of Kawhi Leonard, but now this season he is the primary scorer of the team in front of Kyle Lowry who is averaging 19 PPG.

He will also probably be the primary scorer of this Toronto Raptors team for a while if they just build around the young core players like himself, VanVleet, Powell, and Anunoby. Unless the Toronto Raptors go after Giannis Antetokounmpo in the 2021 offseason then he will more than likely obviously be the primary scorer on the Raptors, but that is a totally different topic if he comes here or not.

Another reason why I think he could potentially win an MVP award is that the big men in the NBA are now using the 3 point line compared to years prior. I am not saying Siakam is a big man like Marc Gasol and other centers around the league however he is 6’9 playing in the power forward position and often matched up against tall players above 6’9 anyways and Siakam along with other bigger players are shooting from far out now, so if he can keep that up and also dominate down low he could average closer to 30 PPG in his prime down the road in my opinion.

Do you think Pascal Siakam could potentially win an NBA MVP award in the future? If so when? If not how come?
