Raptors Three-Point Contest Nominee: Norman Powell

Lowry was in the contest for three straight seasons in the middle part of the last decade, but he never came close to winning. He’s had his moment. Based on how well Powell has been playing this year, he might have a lethal enough shot to make a run at the title, even in such a crowded field.

Powell is not only scoring 17 points per game this season, but the former UCLA star is shooting the lights out with some insane performances from beyond the arc. Powell is making 43% of his threes, by far the highest mark of his career.

Powell’s sweet shooting could get the Raptors a trophy

Being a big name like Curry doesn’t necessarily mean that you can just waltz to the title, in fact, shooters like Joe Harris and Buddy Hield have used the competition to show the rest of the league they are firmly in that elite tier of shooters across the league.

Powell could really cash in when he potentially becomes a free agent this offseason, and a victory in this contest would’ve only added legitimacy to the fact that he is one of the league’s best shooters. Oh well. Looks like he’ll have to settle for torching teams in live game action instead.
